CORRYONG'S piano man Dave Scott had to cut back on his biggest vice to complete his successful 75-hour continuous keyboarding record attempt.
He regularly smokes between 75 and 80 cigarettes a day — he would have had up to 240 between Wednesday and Saturday had his hands not been busy on the keyboard.
But after using just one heavy patch a day and smoking 12 cigarettes over the course of the marathon, Mr Scott has found new motivation to quit.
"Not once did I get the urge to smoke," he said.
Having passed the 75-hour target at 9am on Saturday, Mr Scott said the first thing on his mind was sleep.
The record might have been broken but Mr Scott will not stop his fundraising efforts for the Wagga and Corryong hospitals until July 1 and until he has doubled his target to $60,000.
